About the Course

Painting in Oils with guidance by tutor Sarah Teare.
 

This term we will take inspiration from Still Life and Natural Forms. The first 5 weeks, we'll take inspiration from Autumnal Vegetables - Butternut squash, pumpkins and gourds to produce a still-life painting in oils. 

​

During the second half of the course, we'll look at artist Katy Jade Dobson and create a large scale mixed media piece, inspired by Naturals Forms - we'll look at birds and plants combining realism and abstract mark making.

​

There’s also the option to bring your own project and work with individual guidance from the tutor.

We will learn:​​
 

• Learn how to plan and compose drawings and a painting.

• Measuring and proportion techniques to achieve accuracy.

• Understanding oils: layering, drying times, and brushwork.

• Colour mixing and developing a colour palette.

• How to capture light, depth, and atmosphere in a painting.
  
   

Over the 10-week course you will:
 

• Build confidence in composition drawing and painting.

• Develop a complete oil painting step by step.

• Gain a deeper understanding of composition, colour, and impressionist techniques.

• Receive personalised tuition to support your progress.
